Modern House with Central Courtyard in Casablanca, Chili

Matías Zegers Arquitectos built a modern house of white stone that has a courtyard that can grow trees because it has no roof. This home, which also has a fireplace, sits in the middle of a vineyard in Casablanca, Chile between two mountains.

Matias Zegers Designed Casa Tapihue for a family home that can enjoy the natural scenery around the house. This makes this house raised one meter from the ground in order to enjoy a wider view. This house makes a terrace in the garden in the middle of the house with a fire pit in the shape of a plate. This house was built in such a way as to protect the occupants from the permanent winds in Casablanca.

Rainwater sanitation here can be seen with a visible pipe at least on one side and then flowed into the barrel below. On the terrace there are trees and other plants that can be enjoyed by sliding the door so that the smell of organic plants can spread throughout the house.

All the rooms are surrounded by the central courtyard using geometric white limestone as the walls, while the floor is left with poured concrete. However, this house feels warm because of the doors and some wooden furniture. There is also a library with low shelves and benches.

This house was purposely built with white limestone on the outside to protect against the winds of staying in Casablanca. The wide windows that can be called glass walls make it possible to see the views of the mountains and the central courtyard. while the decorations are deliberately kept minimal to focus on the courtyard in the middle, views of the mountains and vineyards.
