Modern Home, The Ardmore House in Chicago
The Ardmore House was built first for the Kwong Von Glinow design studio in Chicago. This house is a design where the public space and private space are reversed, where the public space is on the second floor while there are rooms below it, so that when you are active during the day you get natural light from the sun from the large and long windows along 4 sides. The house is located on traditional Chicago land next to an alley. In its outer appearance, this house still maintains how traditional houses there are in general, rectangular in shape and sloping roofs. In choosing the color, a white ceiling and walls are chosen, and combined with the frame, furniture and white oak floors, it gives a clean and bright impression.
As already mentioned, the living room is right in front of the stairs on the second floor. With a long chair arranged at the end near the window and on the right there is only a folding chair facing the trellis fence. The living room has a gray carpet with a slightly oval square-shaped table with a model like being stacked in two, under the table can be used to place books. In the middle of the second floor there is an elongated dining table. On the other hand, the kitchen is located. In the kitchen we can wash dishes while looking at the situation outside the house, yes, the dishwasher is near the window. In the kitchen, hanging shelves are also installed not only as decorations but also as places for glasses and bowls to be placed. In every room and corner on the second floor, green plants are placed in pots or in vases.
On the first floor, in front of the rooms there is a lobby where we can sit enjoying coffee next to the large glass window. There are not placed two chairs and a table, but there is also an alcove where we can choose to lie down or sit down to lift our legs. On the first floor, green plants are also placed both in pots and in vases at alcove shelves.
